Anyang, South Korea, November 28, 2018 – RFHIC Corporation (KOSDAQ:218410), a global leader in designing and manufacturing GaN RF & Microwave solutions,  released their latest 5kW GaN solid-state, pulsed transmitter for X-band radar systems, customizable and scalable for other bands and power levels. The operating frequency bandwidth spans up to 500MHz within 9.0 GHz and 10.0 GHz.

The RRT901005K0-57 delivers 5kW peak pulsed power with at most 4000 P_D power consumption @ 10%. from 9.0 to 10 GHz, transmitting pulse widths to 100μs up to 10 percent duty cycle. Pulse droop is no higher than 1.0dB, and pulse rise and fall times are less than 100ns. RFHIC offers an extensive power portfolio of X-band SSPAs operating at 150W to 800W. The RRT901005K0-57, GaN solid-state transmitter combines eight 800W GaN solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs) using RFHIC’s cutting edge and reliable GaN on SiC transistors.

In the case of amplifier failure, the RRT901005K0-57’s control system will automatically identify and report it to the user through the upper management systems via the RS-422 interface. A liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor is embedded in the front of the system to show real-time operation status. (Ex. Output power monitoring with an accuracy of ±0.5dBm).
When one of the SSPAs fails, the output power will be lowered to the portion of the defected module. Unlike TWTAs or other tube amplifiers, the RRT901005K0-57 exhibits graceful degradation.

By utilizing our state-of-the-art GaN on SiC transistors, the 5kW X-band GaN Transmitter achieves approximately 80,000 hours of mean time between critical failure. Spurious signals from the RRT901005K0-57 are no higher than -60 dBc from 9 to 10 GHz. The RF input and output types are SMA and WR-90 waveguide, and the system is cooled using forced air cooling.
The RRT901005K0-57 is embedded with an automatic control interface enabling automatic shutdowns and warning alarm features to safeguard the system from being damaged.
The 5kW X-band GaN Transmitter boasts a smaller form factor of 6U x 19 in (weight 117 lbs.) for easy system integration. The RRT901005K0-57 expandable system hardware architecture allows users to add power when required without the need for manual phase matching.
